Visits & Guided Tours -
Programme 2011
|
Our members have the opportunity to
attend very reasonably priced guided
tours. These optional events happen
three or four times a year and include
visits to exhibitions, galleries,
museums, stately homes, gardens,
cathedrals and other places of interest. |
|
Land of Hope & Glory
|
The story of heroes of the battle field commanded our attention with a fascinating visit to the ROYAL ARTILLERY; founded in the Woolwich Arsenal in 1716. |
Then heroes of the playing field were the focus of the afternoon with a coach tour of the Olympic venues giving us a tantalising glimpse of what is to come in London 2012 |
|
|
Mottisfont Abbey and Garden
|
Despite the weather we all enjoyed roaming round the garden of MOTTISFONT ABBEY containing the national collection of over 350 rose varieties. |
Inside the main building, originally a priory founded in 1201, which now houses an interesting art collection as well as murals painted by Rex Whistler in the delightful drawing room in 1938-9, we were free to tour at our leisure. |

Longleat House with
Carvery Lunch
|
|
|
Members enjoyed a festive trip
to Longleat where they gained an
insight into life behind the
scenes and were much amused by
the decoration of the private
apartments. A most enjoyable
trip was rounded off with a
delicious lunch served in the
Cellar Restaurant. |
